Preserving Local Control

Local control has long been a part of New Hampshires governing tradition.  From town meetings to high voter turnout, New Hampshire communities know what their priorities are and know best how to pay for them. When Concord doesn’t like the way towns have voted, they start trying to take away local control.  When towns overwhelming voted that they did not want budget caps, Republicans in Concord wrote a law and the Governor signed it, that requires towns to put a budget cap question on the ballot.  This is an attempt to force towns to accept directives from Concord that may not be in the best interest of the town.  This is not local control. Concord needs to listen when Granite Staters speak.  If they won’t listen, then they need to go. We need legislators who will listen to their constituents and act in the best interests of their town.
